Witnesses sought after incident in Darby Street, Normanton

We were called to a disturbance in Darby Street, Normanton, at 3.40pm yesterday (Saturday, August 4).

Witnesses at the scene told officers that two men had been involved in an altercation with another group of men and that a gun had been seen.

The investigation is in its early stages, however, we haven’t been able to confirm at this time that a round has been fired. A 28-year-old man from Derby has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have information about the other man. He is described as an Asian male of average build and height, with thinning hair and wearing a long-sleeved blue jacket.

In the hours since the incident officers have been in the area providing reassurance to the community as well as to continue investigating the matter.
