Cycling in Derbyshire

There are so many opportunities for cycling in Derbyshire. Whether you are looking for a family day out, or a mountain bike experience or just a casual cycle ride Derbyshire offers it all and in some outstanding countryside.

If you take a look at Visit Derbyshire you’ll find 7 routes including; Longdendale Trail, Sett Valley Trail, Middlewood Way, Monsal Trail, High Peak Trail, Tissington Trail and Manifold Track. They range from 2.5 miles to 17.5 miles so you can choose according to your ability and the time you have spare.

If you fancy putting in a few more miles then you’d do well taking a look at GPS Cycle and Walking Routes which has some high mileage routes but also include a couple of shorter distances so definitely worth a look.

For the keen cyclist you could perhaps take a look at cycle-route.com. This is an amazing website with a huge list of routes in Derbyshire a large proportion of them are loops so you can park up and return without doubling back. You see a mapped layout of the route along with a description the mileage and the approximate duration to complete. Definitely worth a look at!

If you are looking at cycling in the Peak District then you’ll find Routes at PeakDistrict.gov.uk which is very well planned an has routes for Easy Going, Explorer and Extended (over a day or so). If you’re visiting and want to hire there are hire centres list too. There’s even mention of a Repair Centre.
