We help people enjoy the health benefits of Nordic Walking by offering two types of sessions. If you’ve never tried Nordic Walking before you book into technique lessons where we teach the full Nordic Walking technique using the International 10 step method to ensure you learn a good technique that gives you the biggest benefits and is gentle on the body. Once you’ve mastered the poles you can join any of our fun and sociable Nordic Walking groups in Ilkeston and Heanor. We often finish our walks at a local café too.
What is Nordic Walking?
Nordic Walking is an enhanced walking experience that uses poles to work your upper body as well as your legs. The result is you can feel fitter and the walk also feels much easier because you are spreading the effort over the whole body. The beauty of this activity is you can start at any level of fitness; even if you’ve not done any exercise since you left school. We can gradually build up the intensity to a level you feel is best for you. The instructors provide special poles that mean you can Nordic Walk on any surface on pavements or in our scenic parks and footpaths in Derbyshire. If you’re not sure, contact the instructor to find out if we have a group suitable for you.
I have been teaching Nordic Walking since 2006 and am qualified as an INWA Nordic Walking instructor. All our instructors are trained by British Nordic Walking, a not for profit organisation that is helping the UK become more active. More info can be found on British Nordic Walking and Facebook. British Nordic Walking is the UK representative of the International Nordic Walking federation (INWA) a not for profit organisation that sets educational standards for instructors for its 20+ country members around the world (www.inwa-nordicwalking.com).
