The popular Victorian Matlock – Christmas Market will be returning to Matlock’s famous Hall Leys Park for a FREE weekend of festive fun on Friday 30 November until Sunday 2 December.
Around 20,000 are expected to attend the fun-packed weekend. This year, Victorian Matlock will be bigger than ever, with more than 170 stalls offering artisan and handcrafted goods as well as live entertainment for all the family throughout the weekend.
James Holmes, from BBC’s Miranda who is appearing as the Dame in Dick Whittington at the Buxton Opera House, will be doing the official light switch on at the event on Saturday 1 December at 4.45pm.
While Sunday 2 December will see the skies of Matlock come alive with a fantastic firework finale.
Looking forward to the 24th Victorian Matlock – Christmas Market, Geoff Stevens, chairman of the committee who organise the annual event with Matlock Town Council, commented: “It’s a pleasure to be organising this fantastic event for another year and I’m very much looking forward to seeing the market back and better than ever for 2018”.
Cllr Steve Flitter at Matlock Town Council endorsed Geoff Stevens’ remarks and added: “It’s become a much anticipated event for families, not just locally but for people throughout Derbyshire and beyond. It is always a big pull for visitors to Matlock and a great opportunity for us to show off the town and its hospitality at its best.”
The Victorian Matlock – Christmas Market runs on Friday 30 November (from 9.00 am – 6:00pm), Saturday 1 December (from 9:00 am – 7:00pm) and Sunday 2 December (from 9:00am – 6:00pm).
The event is sponsored by Matlock Town Council and Matlock & District Business Group. Other supporters of the event include, Derbyshire Dales District Council, East Midlands Trains, Smooth Radio East Midlands and C.W.Sellors Jewellers.
